The University of Fortaleza (Unifor), an institution supported by the Edson Queiroz Foundation, has entered into a new institutional partnership with the University of Beira Interior (UBI) in Portugal, enabling doctoral programs under a co-tutelle (joint supervision) and dual-degree arrangement.

The agreement involves Unifor’s Graduate Program in Administration (PPGA) and the Doctoral Program in Management at the Portuguese institution, broadening the scope for international academic cooperation.

The partnership provides for the joint supervision of theses by faculty members from both universities, as well as collaborative research. Upon meeting all academic requirements and successfully passing a public thesis defense, the doctoral candidate may be awarded the title of Doctor in Administration from Unifor and Doctor in Management from UBI.

The agreement stipulates that a single public thesis defense will be held at the student’s home institution.

This initiative is part of Unifor’s broader internationalization efforts, which aim to connect its academic community with foreign institutions and expand opportunities for education, exchange, and the production of knowledge.

At the graduate level, these initiatives include courses taught in English, international academic missions, and mobility opportunities for master’s and doctoral students.

Study at Unifor

Unifor’s Graduate Program in Administration offers academic Master’s and Doctoral degrees designed to train researchers and professionals capable of analyzing organizational challenges and developing strategic solutions.

The program’s areas of study encompass Strategic Foundations and Processes for Sustainability, integrating topics such as strategy, governance, marketing, innovation, entrepreneurship, and sustainability.
Opportunities for internationalization within the program include courses taught in English, the possibility of "sandwich" doctoral programs at partner universities, and dual-degree agreements.

These experiences enable students to broaden their exposure to different academic perspectives, strengthen collaborative networks and conduct research in dialogue with other scientific and organizational contexts.

International Relations Office

From Fortaleza to the world, Unifor’s International Relations Office maintains connections with 38 countries, encompassing partnerships with 167 higher education institutions.

Through agreements and cooperation initiatives, the University promotes the exchange of students and faculty, encourages joint projects, and expands the international reach of the knowledge produced within the institution.

The new agreement with the University of Beira Interior reinforces this commitment by bringing together doctoral programmes in Brazil and Portugal and creating new opportunities for academic training through international partnership.
